Cross-identification of ROSAT X-ray sources in OGLE data
Abstract
The Optical Gravitational Lensing Experiment (OGLE) is monitoring the Magellanic Clouds and Galactic Bulge to search for possible microlensing candidates. We have cross-correlated the variable star data obtained by OGLE with the ROSAT archive. Our goal is to perform a population study of the X-ray sources and their optical counterparts in these fields. We present tentative classifications of these objects, combined with a statistical study to estimate the robustness of the identified associations.
